Absolutely! The majority of coaches in training are working full-time and successfully manage to combine work and training.

What do I get for my money?

  • One-to-one training in a small group setting by an internationally recognised career expert, Cassandra Gaisford (Dominion Post columnist) - Learn effective and powerful skills to help you start working with your clients quickly and effectively.

  • Certification with one of New Zealand’s most recognised professional coaching organisation.

The Structure of this course

DAY ONE:

The course begins by helping you to understand the practice of coaching what life coaching is and the issues that many clients present with. Once you have a clearer idea of these practical considerations, you can then focus on the techniques of coaching.

We will then look in more detail at the "Free to be me" life coaching programme. Day one will focus on giving you a good understanding of the principals that underlie the life coaching process.

DAY TWO:

On day two we will put your new knowledge into practise by role playing and working with "real" issues that clients present with.

We will then take a more in depth look at the practise of career coaching. You will be pleased to see that there are many similarities between life coaching and career coaching. However there are some major differences too. This section of the course will help you to master the skills and techniques unique to career coaching. Learning these skills will give you a much fuller toolkit to work with your clients.

DAY THREE:

On our final day together we will give you some more "real life" examples for you to practise your skills. This practical experience is an essential part of the training. Dealing with real examples and applying your skills helps you to build confidence in your skill set and gives you tangible experience of working with the Worklife Solutions workbooks – the very workbooks you will be using with your own client base.

The course will then end with identifying some strategies for helping you to look after yourself.

On the following page you will find a summary of the course outline.

AFTER THE WORKSHOP HAS ENDED:

Applying your skills once the workshop has ended is critical to gaining confidence and mastery. In addition to qualify from this training you will need to complete 50 hours of coaching experience. We would encourage you to identify people who would benefit from either career or life coaching and would be willing to let you "practise" your techniques on. Please let us know if you need help to find some clients. These clients will be asked to complete a feedback questionnaire which will be used as part of your course evaluation.

Career Coach Certification

What is a CAREER COACH?

A career coach is simply someone who helps people to achieve their career goals. Career coaching is a specialist skill. Unlike life coaches who focus on a wide range of issues, career coach's focus specifically on work related issues. Individual goals vary. Some people hate what they are doing but feel trapped and unable to identify alternative job options. Others know what they want to do, they just need somebody to provide a bit more focus and to help them to put intentions into action. A career coach helps people to both identify and make the changes they desire. They help people to gain greater clarity about their criteria for job satisfaction, and longer-term career goals. From these initial insights, the career coach helps people to generate career options and an action plan that will help to fulfil their potential and minimise costly errors along the way. A good coach's toolbox includes a structured and sound career development framework, coupled with a creative, lateral approach to problem solving.

Life Coach Certification

What is a LIFE COACH?

Life coaching differs from career coaching in that it takes a broad and holistic view of life goals, whether these be to improve their relationships, finances, health, self-esteem or just to find time to rekindle a hobby or something they've always been passionate about. Life coaching is not the same as therapy or counselling. You don't need to have a problem to seek the services of a life coach, although some people do. Life coaching is about helping individuals find their own solutions, their own path to goal achievement.

Why train to be a life coach?

There has never been a better time to become a life coach. Personal development services are one of the fastest growing business areas of modern times. With the rapid rate of change and the rise of emotional intelligence rather than technical competence becoming increasingly important determinants of success, more and more individuals are investing in their personal development and using life-coaching services. Increasing numbers of organisations are also embracing life coaching services. At the 2003 Human Resources Institute conference in New Zealand , increasing numbers of organisations reported investing in holistic services that help their employees achieve greater work/life balance, self-esteem and wellness, realising large returns on investment in terms of greater productivity, increased retention of key staff and reduced levels of stress.
